We wish to advise of a potential safety issue with your Subaru Impreza WRX and Outback H6 where the cruise control cable could become dislodged resulting in the throttle becoming partially stuck open, even when you release the accelerator pedal or turn off the cruise control.
This condition could occur at any time without prior warning, even while the cruise control is turned off.
The cruise control cable connects the cruise control servo to the engine throttle body and is located in the engine compartment. If the cable were to come out of its track while the vehicle is being driven, the engine speed could remain high even if the accelerator pedal is released. This could cause the vehicle to act as if the accelerator pedal is partially depressed and could cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
