In the vast internet information universe, simply keeping up-to-date can be a challenge.
Now you can have the latest news and features delivered directly to you instead of clicking between all those sites.
RSS, or 'Really Simple Syndication' lets you know when your favourite sites have added new content. You can get the latest content from any number of sites including audio files, photographs or video all in one place and the minute they are published.
Not all websites currently provide RSS feeds but it is growing rapidly in popularity, so subaru.co.nz now provides them.
'NEWSREADERS' AND RSS FEEDS
First, get what's called a 'news reader' . This automatically checks the sites of your choice for new material. There are many different types, some browser-based, and some downloadable applications. With your news reader software, you then subscribe to the relevant RSS feeds By clicking on the RSS button, or dragging the URL of the RSS feed into your news reader, or by cutting and pasting the same URL into a new feed in your news reader.
Some browsers, (eg: Firefox, Opera and Safari), can make life even easier by automatically checking for RSS feeds when you visit a website.
A typical selection is below:
Windows
Newz Crawler
FeedDemon
Awasu
Mac OS X
Newsfire
NetNewsWire
Web
Bloglines
My Yahoo!
NewsGator
Browser
Mozilla Firefox
Other News Readers (GOOGLE)
Good luck and good news!
