Lace up your sneakers, the Subaru-supported Round the Bays event is on this Sunday

Art and Matilda Green will be running with Team Subaru at the Ports of Auckland Round the Bays on Sunday.

Subaru are excited to be involved in the Ports of Auckland Round the Bays for the first time this year, and with only four sleeps to go, the training has been done and the countdown is on!

The Kiwi lifestyle brand is the official vehicle partner of this hugely-popular fun run and the Subaru SUVs will be out on the course as the lead and tail vehicles supporting those who get out and do.

Round the Bays is the largest mass participation sporting event in New Zealand, attracting more than 26,000 people annually. The essence of Subaru is ‘do’ which means there are many synergies with this event. The 8.4km fun run starts in the Auckland CBD at Quay Street and continues along Auckland’s Waitemata Harbour to a spectacular finish along St Heliers Bay. It enables people of all fitness levels to get involved, whether they are a beginner, want to sprint all the way to the finish line, or simply just want to walk it with the family, it is aimed at encouraging people to get more active. Subaru’s All Wheel Drive vehicles are about enabling people to get out and do adventures - give things a go - and the capable vehicles ensure they can get to where they need to be, to explore New Zealand.

Subaru of New Zealand Marketing Manager Daile will be at the event with a team of walkers and runners that Subaru has put together to form Team Subaru.

“We love the fact that the Ports of Auckland Round the Bays is a fun, family-friendly event for people and their kids to get involved in. While the teenagers can run it with their parents, it is also ideal for mums and dads who are pushing their toddlers in a pushchair. The appeal of the event for Subaru was just how accessible it is, and how it encourages everyone to be active, regardless of their level of fitness,” Mrs Stephens says.

Subaru’s involvement is about more than supplying cars. The Subaru team will be there to cheer you on throughout the race, and you can celebrate with the them at the finish line at the Subaru stand in Vellenoweth Green, St Heliers. Subaru have created a space that embodies the typical Kiwi summer pastime of ‘backyard entertaining’ where you can hang out on chairs in the shade or relax on beanbags.

Winger Subaru Greenlane will also be at the event at the Madills Farm reserve, along with other companies who have put together a team for the fun run. You can check out the latest Subaru SUV line up, including the New Zealand Car of the Year, the Subaru Forester at both the finish line, or at Madills Farm.

Recently-married Subaru Brand Ambassadors Art and Matilda Green will both be taking part in the Round the Bays for Team Subaru and will be at the Subaru stand to meet and greet people after they have finished.

Subaru have created some top tips training videos with Art and Matilda in the lead-up to the event, and while it might be too late to clock up the training kilometres, the Subaru stretching tips video will give you some ideas for cooling down afterwards. There will also be a Subaru Stretch Zone at the finish line, where you can do some stretches, out of the sun, after completing the race.
