Subaru launches the most capable Outback ever

For the first time in an Outback model, the Outback X features Dual-function X-Mode.

New Zealand’s favourite Subaru, the Outback SUV has become even more capable than ever before, with the introduction of the Limited Edition Outback X.

Built for adventures, the Outback X is ready for almost anything that you can throw at it. For the first time in an Outback model, the Outback X features Dual-function X-Mode. X-Mode helps drivers safely negotiate challenging roads, slippery surfaces and inclines with confidence, by constantly monitoring the traction available to each wheel and centralising control of the engine, transmission, brakes and other components.

The Outback X’s new Dual-function X-Mode includes settings for snow, dirt, and mud, and was first introduced in the new generation 2019 Forester. This feature gets the Outback X through many situations that few of Subaru’s rivals can handle. Dual X-Mode technology further enhances Subaru’s existing full time All-Wheel Drive, which is world renowned for delivering power from the ‘wheels that slip to the wheels that grip’. It allows Kiwis to tackle the most challenging conditions and ensures that Subaru’s largest SUV is still right at home in New Zealand, enabling our nation’s drivers to get out and ‘do’.

To compliment the Outback X’s rugged nature, it also features water repellent seat fabric* and protective strips in the boot.

This good-looking trailblazer is certainly a head-turner with its black 18” alloy wheels, front grille, wing mirrors and rear badging. To give it yet more X-factor, the Outback X also features green accents on the grille and side badges, plus the interior includes green stitching on the seats, centre console, steering wheel and gear shift boot.

Subaru of New Zealand Managing Director Wallis Dumper says: “Outback has evolved to be the vehicle most Kiwis now recognise the Subaru brand by. It’s a stalwart SUV for us in what we call ‘Subaru Country,’ so this new Limited Edition X model is a great addition to the 2020 line-up and represents the most ‘Outback’ of all Outbacks in our 100% All-Wheel Drive range.”

“Our challenge is actually getting production allocation, as Subaru Corporation in Japan are very aware of the global sales trend towards SUVs and have the reality of a strong Subaru market demand in the United States to satisfy.”

“That said, by us accepting the Outback X as a Limited Edition for New Zealand, it also helps with stronger residual values, plus we recognise most Outback customers become very loyal - buying them again and again and again,” Mr Dumper says.

The Outback X is available for $49,990+ORC, with the 2.5 litre model arriving in a selection of five colours. The sleek-looking Outback X also features satellite navigation, an electronic sunroof, rear power tail gate and a unique combination meter with white lighting rings and white interior illumination.

Like all Subarus in New Zealand, the Outback X is equipped with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, a Boxer engine and clever crash avoidance technology EyeSight® as standard. (EyeSight is made up of eight features, including pre-collision braking system, pre-collision brake assist, pre-collision throttle management, adaptative cruise control, lane departure warning, lane sway warning, lane keep assist, and lead vehicle start alert). All these Subaru Outback X-factors mean you can drive easy - knowing that you have all the capability and safety you need at hand - no matter where you're headed.
