Subaru Legacy wins Company Vehicle award

2016 Subaru Legacy

The 2015 Subaru Legacy has been named today as the Company Vehicle Large Business Car of the Year 2015 in a tight-fought competition.

Company Vehicle magazine’s Business Cars of the Year awards feature no fewer than 10 categories, and the winning cars are selected by the magazine’s professional motoring journalists after they have physically tested the vehicles. Company Vehicle recognised that the large car segment is shrinking, and so included large SUVs and MPVs in the mix to level the playing field.

Commenting on Subaru Legacy’s award, Company Vehicle managing editor John Oxley says: “Subaru has really upped its game, and not only are the latest Legacys bigger and more roomy, they are fit to take on all-comers in the large car segment, especially with the large spread of safety and driver assistance aids fitted as standard – plus, of course, the surefootedness of All-Wheel Drive.”

In receiving the award, Managing Director of Subaru of New Zealand Wallis Dumper says:

“It’s amazing how the biggest Legacy that Subaru has ever made is destined to become our highest selling sedan. The large Aussie cars dominated this segment for a long time and with them soon destined to exit the market, we know there are a lot of customers out there who will be pleased to know that Subaru Legacy is a stylish, sporty but still prestige replacement option for their Commodore or Falcon.”

Mr Dumper adds that “what is even more pleasing for these customers is that they can get into a powerful six cylinder 3.6 litre boxer engine with the control of our Symmetrical All Wheel Drive, so it’s not so much a change, as an upgrade! From the commercial travellers who enjoy a real driver’s car; rural commuters grappling with ever-changing road and weather conditions; or simply the practicality of avoiding the embarrassment of losing traction on boat ramps; or having to resort to carrying chains like our two-wheel-drive competitors do when heading up the ski fields, Subaru Legacy gives these customers a whole new horizon for change.”

Now in its sixth generation All-Wheel Drive Legacy, is competitively priced to gain an increased share of the sedan market, with the 2.5i retailing for $39,990 and the 3.6RS at $49,990.

Every new Legacy is also equipped with the new 3rdgeneration award-winning EyeSight® driver assist system, which can help avoid accidents or reduce impact.

Along with Outback, Legacy is also the safest ever Subaru - achieving a five-star rating for occupant safety from the independent Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP), with a total score of 35.99 out of a maximum possible 37. All current models in the Subaru range have a five star safety rating.
