Subaru WRX

Votes for Subaru of New Zealand’s competition to find the 25 best WRXs in the country have exceeded 10,000 today and to date there are 254 entries.

Next year marks the 25th anniversary of the WRX and Subaru wants to celebrate this iconic performance model. The competition started on Sept 22nd and will run until Friday, November 18th 2016 at 12 noon, at which point the 25 winners will be selected.

That means there is still 16 days left to get a photo of your WRX pride and joy uploaded to www.subaru.co.nz/wrx25 to be in to win a Subaru Leadfoot Festival Experience.

Be sure to include some information about what makes your WRX so special. Share the entry on social media with the hashtag #wrx25nz and get friends and family to vote. The public vote accounts for 50% with a panel of three Subaru-appointed judges rounding out the remaining 50% of the vote.

One of the judges, 2015 NZ National Rally Champion and Subaru of New Zealand Brand Ambassador Ben Hunt says “it is fantastic to see so many well-presented Subaru WRXs from all around New Zealand entering the competition.”

“I’ve been keeping an eye on some of the WRXs and I’ve definitely got a few favourites. I’m sure there are a lot more out there so make sure you get an entry in. I’ve got a feeling there are a few version one WRXs in people’s garages and I’d love to see some of them showcased,” Mr Hunt says.

The 25 chosen winners will attend the Leadfoot Festival held over Waitangi Weekend, February 4 and 5, 2017, and enjoy Subaru hospitality at the Coromandel event, as well as having their WRX on display in a Subaru WRX tent in prime position at the festival.

Five lucky owners will also be chosen on the day to showcase their WRXs in a parade-style procession up the incredible 1.6km driveway, owned and built by Rod Millen, on his oceanfront ranch in Hahei.

The Leadfoot Festival is a unique motorsport event held annually, where Mr Millen and his wife Shelly bring together an exciting mix of classic and performance cars, vintage motorcycles and motorsport identities. It features a long, perfectly-sealed driveway - designed to be the perfect hill climb - that winds through the property. Subaru of New Zealand provides the official pace cars on event, to keep the 100-plus competitors in check.

There are some very exciting Subaru models signed up for the Leadfoot Festival that will be revealed in the coming weeks.
