Pure Performance Pedigree

Consistent across the Subaru WRX range is the famous Subaru Boxer engine that has been designed to sit lower and flatter in the engine bay than upright engines. Due to this unique design it delivers less noise and vibration to the cabin, while the lowered centre of gravity improves stability, cornering and traction with the road. Coupled with the Subaru WRX’s symmetrical drivetrain, this configuration delivers superior handling confidence, better balance, smoothness and ultimately, outstanding driver enjoyment.

The intelligent drive systems incorporated into the Subaru WRX include Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) which seamlessly translates commands from the driver’s right foot to automatically select the optimum throttle position for effortless performance. The ETC system also considers the environment, optimising emissions and fuel economy.

The Subaru WRX engine:

Compact 2.0-litre four-cylinder DOHC Direct Injection Turbocharged (DIT) horizontally-opposed Boxer petrol engine with Dual Active Valve Control System (DAVCS).

The Subaru WRX engine has also been finely tuned to deliver optimum power, torque, exhaust emissions, fuel economy and idling stability via Subaru’s Dual Active Valve Control System (DAVCS) which varies the inlet camshaft timing. This helps the Subaru WRX produce an astonishing 197kW of power at 5,600rpm and maximum torque of 350Nm at 2,400 - 5,200rpm, providing thrilling sports performance and drivability.

Respect and glory. From the back straight to the pit lane, the turbocharged Boxer engine is revered as a performance icon. Awe inspiring, thrilling and ready for its victory lap.
